WHAT WE DO
HYTICOS works across the Deccan landscape to conserve wildlife and ecosystems through a combination of research, community engagement, education, and habitat-focused action. Our approach integrates wildlife monitoring, community welfare, awareness programmes, habitat restoration, sustainable land-use practices, and urban ecology initiatives to support coexistence between people and nature across both rural and urban environments.

HYTICOS conducts systematic wildlife monitoring across forested landscapes of the Deccan to understand species presence, habitat use, and ecological changes. Through field surveys and long-term observations, we generate insights that support informed conservation planning and management.
Recognising that conservation is inseparable from people, HYTICOS works closely with local communities to support livelihoods, access to resources, and coexistence with wildlife. Our initiatives aim to strengthen community well-being while reducing pressures on natural habitats.

HYTICOS engages students, youth, and the public through nature education and outreach programs that foster ecological understanding and stewardship. Initiatives such as Little Ambassadors of Wildlife (LAW) encourage early connections with nature and long-term conservation values.

Habitat Restoration
We work to restore and protect degraded habitats through activities such as native planting, landscape stewardship, and ecological assessments. By strengthening habitat quality and connectivity, HYTICOS supports biodiversity resilience across both rural and urban landscapes.

Through LUNGS (Last Urban Natural Green Spaces), HYTICOS focuses on identifying, mapping, and protecting vital urban green spaces that allow cities to breathe. This initiative highlights the ecological importance of remnant natural areas within rapidly growing urban environments.
